Day - 2. Dubbo

Today we travelled on the Newell Highway from Narrandera to Dubbo.  Highway was good but interspersed with lengthy roadworks.  Distance for the day was 400 km and took 5 hours.  We stopped briefly to view the "Dish" at Parkes.

Narrandera is the home of Thomas Alexander Browne, who wrote "Robbery Under Arms" under a nom de plume.

It has been extremely cold overnight and in the morning, but by lunch time it has warmed to a "heat wave" of 11 degrees with blue skies and sunshine!!!!  Tonight's overnight low is expected to be only 2 degrees.

Scenery is very green paddocks dotted with healthy sheep, and gullies beside the road are full of quite deep water after the recent heavy rains.

A small museum in West Wyalong has this Tiger Moth aircraft.

Just north of Parkes we dropped in to see the huge telescope (the dish).

Typically lush pasture with flooded paddocks everywhere.

We were surprised by the amount of rain this area has received recently.
